Before

Our roads are a mess with many areas of the world facing significant overcrowding and traffic congestion. Most cars on our roads only have a single occupant which just exacerbates the problem with congestion. Traffic is really annoying to many people but it can also cause an increased number of accidents, more violence and road rage, and more stress caused by frustration. There are other problems caused by overcrowding such as the effect on the emergency services that need to be able to get to a destination quickly.

After

There are no roads or highways in Nutopia. People travel within and between Nutopia communities on the Under Ground Pod Network and the Above Ground Pod Network, and the Path Network allows people to walk, run, and use non-motorized vehicles such as bicycles when traveling within the community. There is no traffic because the pod systems are completely automated so that the system runs efficiently with no delays and everyone using it knows exactly when a pod will arrive and when it will be at its destination. People simply request pods using their Portable Access Device, complete their journey, and then the pod remains at the destination terminal until the system summons it for another request by another person.
