The Nutopia transportation system is comprised of 3 different networks which collectively provide adequate and convenient public transportation within and between communities.
The all electric pod systems are designed to accommodate a different number of passengers and different sizes of cargo for maximum efficiency so that only the amount of energy required to move the passenger(s) or cargo is expended, unlike today's automobiles where for example, some cars can accommodate 7 passengers but mostly have a single passenger. The pod networks are highly technical and automated services providing maximum convenience, efficiency, pleasure, and reliability.
Unlike today's public transportation on planes, trains, and buses, the pods are designed so that individuals and families traveling use the right size pods, which gives a more pleasurable travel experience and also prevents the spread of illness.
The transportation services are designed with impeccable safety to minimize personal injury of citizens, and dramatically reduce the healthcare costs of the community due to accidents on roads, railways, and other means of transportation.
All pods are automatic and are summoned by the user who requests the type of pod required using the Guardian System which delivers the pod to the person's current location. The person enters the destination when they make their request and after it arrives they are transported in the pod automatically to their destination.
The pods have an automatic maintenance schedule which means that they are sent to a maintenance facility when required. People can also reject a pod and have it sent to a maintenance facility if required before or after they have used it.
The Above Ground Pod Network is a public transportation system which is used to transport people and goods between different buildings and areas of the community. The pods travel along a mag-lev track which is elevated above the ground and supported by pylons at intervals. The system has terminals where the pods arrive and depart and an elevator allows goods and people to be lowered or raised between the platform and the ground. The system does not affect the natural world unlike roads and highways today because trees, shrubs, and grass grow underneath the tracks and animals can move freely without fear of being killed by a moving vehicle.
The Under Ground Pod Network is a mag-lev vaccum tube public transportation system which is used for most of the requirements of the community. Most of the pod network is used to transport people and goods between different buildings and areas of the community. Smaller pods are used for delivery of food, meals, parcels, and all other small goods, and larger pods are used for transporting larger goods and people (where the pods have a life support system).
The Path Network is an above ground pathway network within the community. This network is used entirely for pedestrians, bicycles, and very small electric vehicles (like Segways, and electric scooters, bikes and wheelchairs) which are speed-restricted.
