It is an incredible irony that the human race with all its amazing technological advancements, has made such an appalling job of providing for all its people and in such a way that preserves our planet for those that follow. We have our technology and we have the labor of billions of people at our disposal to work to that end, yet our world is littered with problems such as poverty, disease, starvation, war, genocide, and the destruction of our environment. The socioeconomic system of capitalism forces us to compete against each other and to strive for more and more economic growth, all of which consumes the planet’s natural resources until they are depleted, and in such a way that entire habitats and millions of species of plants and animals are destroyed. The feedback loops of overconsumption and destruction mean that the problems will get worse and worse in a shorter space of time, and because the system that literally depends on continual economic growth would quickly unravels and spiral out of control when the delicate balance of productivity, employment, income, and consumption of products, would collapse if it were to stop or slow down, there is simply no way it can be changed.

The only way to change our course is to build an alternative system in isolation to show the people of the world that a different way of living is not only possible, but that it is beneficial to all people now and in the future. Nutopia is a new concept to build a modern day society where all people can live peacefully with a good quality of life, while preserving the planet for future generations to come. The concept is fundamentally different from any social, economic, or political system today or in the past. It is the antithesis of modern day capitalism where economic growth is the only thing that matters, which requires us all to work tirelessly to produce more goods and services to keep the economic engine going to provide employment for all people. Nutopia challenges all that and favors a way of life where all people work as needed to meet the requirements of the community, and lets people enjoy life in meaningful ways instead of being mindless consumers.
