Fundamentals

For last couple of centuries we have literally raped and pillaged the Earth and its natural resources to get absolutely everything we can out of it without any regard for what we leave for those that follow us. We devour everything from our land, rivers, forests, and oceans, nothing is safe from us, if we can find it then we want it and we take it. We now have a human population that depends on the infrastructure we have created to dominate the Earth and take its bounty for ourselves. We have sucked our rivers dry and destroyed our forests to make way for fertile land for food production needed by the ever-increasing population. The problem we now face is that the food production machine we have created to feed a population of more than 7 billion people which keeps on rising, is simply unsustainable.

Environmental Respect and Sustainability are two Core Principles of Nutopia. All policies must adhere to all Core Principles so all manufactured goods and services in Nutopia must protect the environment and ensure that natural resources are consumed in a sustainable way. That means that if an item is manufactured then the manufacturing process must have a net zero effect on the environment or measures must be taken to compensate for the negative effect. Similarly if a resource such as trees is used to manufacture an item, then trees must be replanted so that the net effect of the tree consumption is zero. All the use and replenishment of natural resources is under the absolute control of the Guardian System which ensures that humans simply cannot live unsustainably.
