One of the goals of Nutopia is to make sure that its citizens are healthy. Not only are healthy people happier people but if the community as a whole is healthy then the number of resources and the amount of labor required to care for sick people is greatly reduced.

Health Checkups

All citizens are required to have mandatory Health Checkups every 3 months for their entire life which is part of the Nutopia Citizenship Agreement to ensure optimum healthcare for the community as a whole. This makes sure that all citizens are properly checked for potential illness on a regular basis for their entire lives so that any necessary treatment and cure can happen early.

Patient Data

All patient data is recorded in the Guardian System. Diagnosis accuracy is greatly improved over time by aggregating all symptoms, treatments, and outcomes of every medical case of every citizen in all Nutopia communities. As with all data in the Guardian System, it is entirely secure and is only visible to those authorized to see it.

Preventative Care

A comprehensive schedule of vaccinations and tests is mandatory for each citizen and they are carried out when they are due when the patient attends their regular Health Checkups. Unlike today where tests are considered an expense and are limited and are thefore often too late for early detection, every test to detect problems is performed on every citizen by taking samples during every visit. A urine, blood, and stool sample is taken at every Health Checkup which is then sent to an automated facility which runs tests on the samples for early detection of all known problems. Early detection makes a huge difference in the well-being of citizens and reduces the overall amount of labor required to ensure the good health of all citizens.

Treatment

If a patient is in need of treatment because of an injury or illness then they simply request it wherever they need it or they visit a Treatment Center where they can be treated.

Medication

Medication is always a last resort in Nutopia. The primary focus of healthcare in Nutopia is to prevent health problems by giving its citizens a happy life with minimal stress, provide only nutritious food, and to promote exercise. Medication is only prescribed when illness or disease is clearly unrelated to the lifestyle of the patient.

Disability Care

People with mental or physical disabilities are treated as needed. It is always the goal in Nutopia to let people with disabilities live normal lives in the community rather than being detained. Technology provides ways for disabled people to live in homes and work on tasks, and only when a person is a danger to themselves or others are they housed in a Disability Care Center.

Elder Care

People of old age are cared for as needed. It is always the goal in Nutopia to let old people live normal lives in the community rather than them living away from friends and family. Technology provides ways for old people to live in homes and work on tasks, and Elder Carers are assigned to people as needed to help them with medications or treatment or when they are living alone, and only when a person is a danger to themselves or others are they housed in an Elder Care Center.
