Before

Humans have a long and rich history of religion, however it is one of the most controversial issues of our time and it has led to many human conflicts and the persecution of entire nations and peoples over many centuries. There is no verifiable evidence for any deity, god, or any other mystical being depicted in any religion, yet billions of people around the world are convinced that the words written down thousands of years ago in scriptures and other religious texts are evidence that an all powerful being is in control of everything and should be worshiped. Anyone who tries to make the case against religion, regardless of how compelling the argument to support the agnostic view that there is no scientific evidence for any religious being, is ultimately faced with the rebuttal that "religion is about having faith".

There is no organized religion in Nutopia. There are no synagogues, mosques, temples, churches, or any other buildings dedicated to religious worship. There are no clergy such as priests, rabbis, or imams, because all people share the same rights and responsibilities in Nutopia and the organization of worship is not a requirement of the community as a whole. None of this is to say that people can't have spiritual views or practice their religious beliefs in their home, it's just that no shared resources or shared human labor is dedicated to anything to do with religion. People can come together in shared buildings such as community centers to discuss religion and pray and do anything they want, just as a book club would come together to discuss books, or a scout group or a dance group might come together for a weekly meeting.
