The last 50 years has seen a massive increase in the production and use of drugs or pharmaceuticals for use as medications. It is another example of big business and how the pursuit of money can be a significant driver of behavior with an unwitting public. Pharmaceutical companies are increasingly disease-mongering and encouraging over-medicalizing of personal or social problems all to drive meteoric levels of profitability and value for shareholders. We have become a pill-popping nation and many of us have a multitude of different medications to accompany our breakfast each morning, many of which are taken to tame the side effects of the other medications in the lineup. We are showered with advertising designed to convince us that we need to take a whole host of medications for our various ailments when the truth is that the overwhelming causes of our ill health are toxins in our environment, food and water supply, our poor nutrition, and our lack of exercise.

In Nutopia we focus first and foremost on optimizing health by eliminating all chemicals and toxins from our environment, offering only nutritious and whole foods free from poisons, delivering pure water, and promoting exercise. Extensive preventative healthcare means that health problems are detected early and are addressed immediately rather than when it is too late. The overall good health of the community means that a bloated healthcare system and the production of endless pharmaceuticals is not needed. The creation and production of pharmaceuticals in Nutopia is small scale and the prescription of medications to citizens is very limited.
